    It is a skin rash of Meningococcal septicemia
    babies with meningococcal disease can get sick very quickly and can lead to 2 very serious illnesses:meningitis,or septicaemia
    There are several different types of meningococcal bacteria including A, B, C, Y and W135.
    Symptoms may appear in any order and some may not appear at all.
    A baby or child who has meningococcal disease may:
    have a fever (may also have cool hands and feet, or shivering),be crying or unsettled refuse drinks or feeds,vomit,be sleepy or floppy or harder to wake, have a stiff neck,have red or purple spots or bruises on the skin meningococcal septicemia

    This maculopapular rash of Meningococcal septicemia, cbc with differential, blood culture, clotting factors, urine analysis and culture, csf analysis. the patient needs Icu, close observation, IVfluids,Woundcare,Replacement of platelets or clotting factors,Antibiotics
    Breathing support such as mechanical ventialtion or oxygen therapy,Drugs for low blood pressure,Corticosteroid drugs
    Surgeries can be done. DD toxic shock syndrome, Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, Steven Johnson syndrome,Toxic epidermal necrolysis,Dermatitis herpitiform

    This severe maculo papular rassh for DD According to the age of the pt in neonatal period we may think in Erythema toxicum ( scattering of macules, papules, and even some vesicles, or small white or yellow pastules that usually appear on the trunk and also frequently appear on the extremities and face of unknown etiology and needing no treatment. Other Causes may be rash of meningococcal infection ,staphylococcal infection, steven jhonsen syndrom,

    meningitis is a serious neonatal infection and when suspected a septic work up started immediately also
    I v antibiotics should be started
